How we think

On 1st February 2022 Nikwax became an Employee Ownership Trust (EOT) after being owned by its founder Nick Brown for 45 years. We still carry Nick’s values and continue to use science to improve people’s comfort and enjoyment of the natural world.

Nikwax is committed to maximising enjoyment of the great outdoors with minimal environmental impact. Using clever fabric systems and clean chemistry, Nikwax improves the performance of clothing, footwear and equipment, and extends its life. Nikwax is known and respected for its sustainable practices and environmentally friendly products.

As part of becoming an EOT, the group has committed to donating 1% of turnover to environmental and social causes.

What we do

Nikwax takes real action in a broad range of areas. From internal policies to reduce direct impacts, to external funding of conservation and education, we strive to live by our principles and set an example to the rest of the industry. We know that we are working hard to reduce our environmental impact, but we also believe that consumers should have a healthy skepticism when it comes to companies’ environmental claims. To promote a culture of transparency and public scrutiny, we have decided to share our environmental performance data online. Flattering or otherwise, we are laying it out for all to see, allowing the public to make their own minds up about our efforts.
